General Info
Welcome at my small website dedicated to Sensible World of Soccer 96/97.
For the loyal visitors (if there are any), I've not been updating much since late December 2002. However, in October 2004 I finished updating the top teams in the Netherlands. There are plans for a 2005/2006 Dutch teams file to be ready mid August.
Below you can see me, in SWOS style, wearing my FC Utrecht jersey.

Last update: July 28th 2005.
(October 2004 update:) I put my new teams updates on the site, both the 2003/2004 teams and 2004/2005 teams.

Feel free to download files from this site, though I'd appreaciate feedback on whether you like(d) the file(s) or not, so I know I'm not putting this all up on the internet for nothing.
(Even though it's a free website :-D)

For feedback, questions, troubles, hints, anything else SWOS related or related to this website, you can email to my hotmail adress.
My username is mijb19.
So far, I received some feedback; keep it coming I'd say. Especially concerning the national teams career files, wheter they are appriciated (or not!)

My Favourite SWOS 96/97 Players
I put up a moderate list of cheap talented players and my favourite SWOS9697 players.
I haven't updated the cheap players list since December 2002.

"New" Updated Team Files for SWOS 96/97
My update usually is a custom teams file with 48 teams. These include the 37 Dutch teams and 11 other teams. In the last versions, these 11 were: Netherlands, Netherlands U-23, Netherlands all time team, Suriprofs (selection of Dutch players with Surinamese roots), an FC Utrecht all time team and the top 6 clubs in the world (Real Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, Juventus, Bayern and Manchester Utd.)

For the above given 48 teams I have two relative recent files:
2003/2004 file - All 48 teams are up to date as of the season start in the NLs.
2004/2005 file - All 18 eredivisie teams are updated, as well as the three national teams for the NLs. Those teams where the coach has a '-' in front of his name, it means the team has not been updated past august 2003.

If you want to use the files for career play, I'd recommend to use a FOF editor and make 30 of the 48 teams different from "Premier Division" teams and make 18 teams "First Division" teams. For people wanting more realism, you should know that the "First Division" expanded to 19 teams in 2003/2004.

"Old" Updated Team Files for SWOS 96/97
You can get my updates of the Dutch eredivisie and Dutch first division from october 2002 in this .zip file.
Or you could download the mid-season update from March 2003.
Both zips include a small readme file explaining the two team files included.
The files include two team files with Dutch teams, one named Team.025 and one file is a customs teams file, as described in the readme.
The Dutch teams are correct as of the dates mentioned in the readme files.
I included the edited custom team file, because I like to play careers with the old teams, but find it fun to play friendlies or leagues with the updated teams in a custom teams file, so I can add all star teams to play against the original teams.

The Dutch teams file is an "as if" file, as if nobody is injured, while the players on the bench will be those playing a lot, besides the starting 11. Sadly SWOS allows only 5 reserves per team, meaning some players didn't make the cut, despite they deserve to be in the team file.
Additional to the 36 Dutch teams, are 12 custom teams, being: A European All Star team, the Dutch national team, a group of 16 Dutch players who didn't make that team, the Dutch Under-23 team (including Rafael van der Vaart), Real Madrid, Manchester United and Arsenal.
Though, my favourite custom teams in this file are two all time teams: A team including players from FC Utrecht 1995-2002, and the Dutch team of the 1900's. Both these teams are as if the people would step in now, so Johan Cruijff is a player who hardly can run in this file. The Dutch All Stars team includes one player who has died, Abe Lenstra. Despite he can't play in such a team in real life anymore, the All Time team wouldn't be complete without him.
Also, there is the Suriprofs team, a team including Dutch players with Surinam blood running through teir veigns, who play on a yearly base several demonstration games, friendlies and an annual sort of Super Cup against the winner of the Dutch Eerste Divisie. The 11th custom team is an All Star team of foreign players in the Dutch Eredivisie.
Last, but not least, is the current AGOVV selection. That's the team I mentioned that became the 37th pro team in the 2003/2004 season.

You can get the World Cup 2002 selections in this .zip file. The zip includes a small readme file.

My project to add a European Super League edition is on hold.
First, I'm not sure which teams to include yet.
I'm definatly going to include the 18 teams in G14, and likely up to 30 others (for a 48 team total.)
This all for a 4 12-team group phase and 16-team playoffs scenario.
Still, the development of the teams is in a very early stage, and I doubt this file will be created before the 2005/2006 season.

All the team update files are created with the help of Pablo Fridlender's SWOS Editor.

My Careers in SWOS 96/97
First of, here is a WinAce file including all playable country.car files, enjoy!
natcars.ace
0. Get WinAce to be able to unzip the file (I have no idea where I got it, and am not interested in putting a link up here)
1. right click and "Save to Disk"
2. use WinAce to unzip
Enjoy!

Below, you can see the achievements in SWOS9697 I'm most proud of.
Of course, this isn't everything I managed to do, though these achievments made me happier then winning the CL with a super stars loaded Vitesse about 10 times.
Perhaps I will put up some career reviews in the future about my Vitesse career, Limerick career or other interesting teams.
One of my greatest achievements was qualifying for the World Cup with San Marino.
If you want to find out how you would do in that competition with San Marino, download the sanmtowc.zip file.
Personally, I didn't reach the second round after 2 draws and a 1-0 loss in the group with Spain, Colombia and Sweden.
I don't feel like cheating playing the cup over and over, thus stick with missing the second round.
If you want to see the .car files of the achievements shown below, dowload the following file, which includes both the Malta and Cyprus careers: careers.zip
Another relative recent game was an Iceland career, though I failed to reach the World Cup Quarter Finals, after losing 5-4 on pens to eventual champs Croatia.
Next in line was a Faroe Isles, in which I got fired after losing in the world cup in the group stages. Go figure!
Below are four screenshots of the top achievements I had:
